Oppo is reportedly gearing up to launch its next generation Oppo Reno 12 series of smartphones. Information about the handsets included in this lineup has started to emerge. It is already known that the model number “CPH2629” belongs to the Oppo Reno 12 Pro phone. An Oppo device with a similar model number has now appeared on multiple certification platforms, including TUV Rheinland and Camera FV-5. This upcoming device is believed to be the Oppo Reno 12 model. The device has also been spotted on the GeekBench benchmarking platform. Let's find out what this certification and benchmark listing reveals about the upcoming device.
Oppo Reno 12 has been approved by multiple certification sites
The new Oppo phone with model number “CPH2625” has been listed on TUV Rheinland, Camera FV-5 and Geekbench benchmarking platform. Oppo Reno 12 Pro is believed to be the standard Oppo Reno 12 as it matches the phone's model number (CPH2629). The TUV Rheinland certification platform has revealed that the Oppo Reno 12 will support faster 80W charging and will come with a 4,880mAh battery.
The camera FV-5 certification platform shows that the Oppo Reno 12 will feature a 12.6-megapixel sensor with a 26.6mm (primary) lens. This is probably the resolution after 4-1 pixel binning. So the actual resolution of the sensor is 50.4 megapixels. The main camera will come with f/1.8 aperture and Electronics Image Stabilization (EIS) support. At an output of 12.6 megapixels (after binning), the effective pixel size would be 1.6 microns.
Also, the Oppo Reno 12 handset will have another camera on the back with a resolution of 8.3 megapixels with a slightly wider focal length of 21.9mm and a smaller f/2.0 aperture. It will offer EIS support and an overall smaller sensor size (1.2 micron pixels). Looking at the slightly wider field of view (which isn't quite enough for an ultrawide), it seems to render the front camera in binned mode. The predecessor Oppo Reno 11 had a 32-megapixel front camera with a focal length of 22 mm.
Although the camera FV-5 certification listing does not reveal any other rear camera details of the Oppo Reno 12 handset, tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has reported that the phone will also feature a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. It will probably also get an ultrawide lens.
On the other hand, Oppo Reno 12 scored 1,033 points in GeekBench (GeekBench 6.3.0) benchmarking platform's single-core test and 2,750 points in multi-core test. The phone will have 8 GB of built-in memory and will run on Android 14 operating system. But the Reno 12 is expected to be available in other memory variants as well. According to the benchmark listing, the phone will run on an octa-core chipset, which consists of four cores clocked at 2.00GHz and four cores clocked at 2.5GHz. For graphics, the chipset will feature Mali-G615 MC2 GPU.
