CMF Phone (1): Nothing's new phone will shake the market, has OLED display and 50MP camera

CMF, the sub-brand of Nothing, is gearing up to launch their first smartphone soon. CMF is actually about colors, materials and finishes, which are expected to be important aspects of the upcoming phone as well. An earlier report by Emmaus indicated that it might debut as a budget-range smartphone with a bunch of interesting features. And now, a tipster has leaked the specifications of the upcoming CMF smartphone on social media, indicating that it will likely be a rebranded version of the Nothing Phone (2a) handset launched in March.

The first smartphone from the CMF band will be the Nothing Phone (2a) handset

A tipster in his recent X (formerly Twitter) post claimed that the engineering sample of the CMF phone with model number A015 will feature a MediaTek Dimension 7200 processor, 5,000 mAh battery and 33W fast charging support. The phone is expected to offer a 6.67-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The phone is said to come with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256GB UFS 2.2 storage. It is also expected to get a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The tipster claims that the phone will have a vertically mounted camera setup with a 50-megapixel primary camera on the back. And a 16 megapixel sensor will be seen in front.

The CMF-branded phone will have a replaceable plastic cover on the back and the model will also be missing Nothing's signature glyph light. It is expected to run the latest Nothing OS 2.5 custom skin based on Android 14 and the phone will also support Widevine L1 certification for HD streaming. The CMF phone will be available in Black, Green, Blue and an India-exclusive Orange color option.

Also, the tipster mentioned that the CMF phone could be launched next July with a price range of $249 (approx. Rs. 20,735) to $279 (approx. Rs. 23,235). However, an earlier report claimed that the handset could hit the market at a budget price of around Rs 12,000, which is much lower than the price currently revealed by the tipster. The specifications appear to be almost identical to the Nothing Phone (2a), indicating that the CMF phone could be a rebranded version with some design changes. However, it is important to note here that these specifications are from an engineering sample, so only time will tell if they will be seen in the final model.
