Cheapest smartphone with 8GB + 256GB storage? Redmi can surprise

The Redmi 12C came to India at an affordable price in late March. Currently, this handset is available in the country in two storage options. The base model offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Besides, there is also a 6GB RAM variant with 128GB storage. Now the sub-brand of Xiaomi has confirmed to launch a new version of the Redmi 12C, which will offer more RAM and storage. However, the RAM and storage capacity of the variant is unknown. Presumably, the Redmi 12C could get a new 4GB RAM + 128GB storage or an 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, which is not seen much in the budget segment.

The new stock version of Redmi 12C is coming to the Indian market

Redmi is going to launch a new variant of the Redmi 12C in India very soon. Redmi India confirmed this by releasing a teaser via their official Twitter account. However, the exact storage configuration of the new variant is not mentioned. However, it is speculated that the brand will launch the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage option for the Redmi 12C in the Indian market. It will slot between the existing 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage options.

Please note that the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant of Redmi 12C is priced at Tk 8,999. And the higher 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is available at Tk 10,999. If, this 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is launched in India, it will likely be available for Rs 9,999. The Redmi 12C is currently available for purchase in India in four color options – Lavender Purple, Matte Black, Mint Green and Royal Blue.

Specifications and features of Redmi 12C

This phone has a 6.7 inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate support. Waterdrop notch on the screen for the front camera and the phone offers 500 nits peak brightness. The device is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 processor. The phone’s storage can also be expanded up to 1TB via microSD card slot. Redmi 12C runs Android 12 based MIUI 13 user interface.

For photography, the Redmi 12C has a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor on the rear panel and a 5-megapixel selfie camera on the front of the phone. For power backup, this budget phone from Redmi features a 5,000mAh battery with standard 10W charging support. The phone also includes a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, single speaker and micro USB port. The Redmi 12C comes with an IP52 rated chassis for water and dust resistance.
