BSNL got a lot of new subscribers as private telecom companies like Jio, Airtel and Vi hiked recharge plan prices in July. Customers are attracted as the company offers the most affordable recharge plans. And to retain new customers BSNL is already known to be rolling out 4G services by next year. However, this time the government telecom company has adopted a new strategy to attract rural feature phone users.
BSNL has announced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that they are going to offer SIM-enabled handsets under the 'India 4G Partnership Policy'. For this they have joined hands with Karbonn Mobile. This new handset will compete with Jio Bharat 4G feature phones and offer high speed connectivity at an affordable price.
Karbonn Mobile will allow customers to use BSNL 4G services on these handsets, so customers will not need to pay more for smartphones. However, it is not known whether Jio's 4G SIM can be used in this phone.
BSNL wrote in their X post, 'BSNL and Karbonn Mobile India are coming up with a special SIM handset bundling offer under the 4G partnership policy. Together we aim to bring affordable 4G connectivity to every corner of the country.'
