Qualcomm is expected to unveil the next generation Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor in October this year. That is why the multiple Chinese flagship phones powered by this chipset will be launched in the last quarter of the year. Xiaomi 16 series is likely to be the first smartphone with the chip. Meanwhile, Shaomi's sub-brand Redmi can launch the Redmi K90 series by the end of this year. This flagship has claimed that a custom-head chipset may be used.
The popular Chinese Chipster Digital Chat Station claims in his social media post that Redmi K90 and K90 will be driven by the upcoming SM8845 and SM8850 chipset. It is heard that SM8850 is actually Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. On the other hand, SM8845 will be a 3NM+ chip made of custom-designing, which is producing Qualcomm and Redmi joint ventures.
According to sources, the new chip has a complete custom architecture. It is designed to provide benchmark scores like Snapdragon 8 Elite Processor. However, it is still unknown how the performance can be found in reality. The news has come out that the Redmi K90 series is particularly focusing on the price. That is, Redmi is looking at the affordable value instead of functioning.
Note that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor was used on the Redmi K70 phone in 2021, which was published in 2022. Again the K70 Pro model had Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset released in 2021. Last year's Redmi K80 and K80 Pro are equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Processor respectively.
