Many travelers are living their lives by exploring Tilottama on two wheels. Once you want to explore the sights of Kolkata independently. But due to the long distance of residence from the state capital, it is no longer possible. This time, an organization came forward to meet the needs of the people of the state. Low-cost e-bike rental services launched across the city.
By downloading the app, you can visit Kolkata for 10 taka
The self-driving app-based e-bike rental initiative started in Kolkata from last Wednesday. Various historical and sightseeing places of Kolkata can be visited at a low cost without straining the pocket. Again without spreading any pollution. Apart from various post offices and crossings in Kolkata, these battery powered bikes or scooters can be rented from docking stations. The maximum speed is 25 km per hour. That is, there will be no need for a license to run. The minimum cost per head is only 10 rupees. 350 e-scooters have been deployed to implement this initiative.
Apart from these five post offices – Dumdum, Bedon Street, Bhavanipur, Sarat Bose Road, Taliganj and New Alipore – nine docking stations can rent e-scooters. Apart from this, even if you go to Gariahat, Naktala and Kasba crossings, you will meet. The service will be available from 7 am to 11.30 pm.
Incidentally, this is not the first such service in the city. Earlier in 2021, another operator took the initiative to rent out eco-friendly two-wheelers. So the two places are separate operators. The service will be provided through a mobile app called Dabadigo. Basabjit Nag, founder and director of the organization, said that two people can ride together.
After downloading the Dabadigo app you have to register with photo, email id, phone number and identity card. Once enrolled, the app will notify users of nearby docking points. Scan QR code from app to unlock e-bike/scooter. If you need to stop on the way, just click on ‘Parking option’. Tap on ‘End Ride’ option to end the trip again. There are multiple options for payment. For example – mobile wallet, debit and credit cards.
Can be rented for a minimum of 10 minutes and a maximum of a whole day. The fare is 10 taka per 10 minutes. 60 taka for driving for 1 hour. 333 taka should be counted for the whole day. Which is a lot less than cabs. Sensors are present in every vehicle. So if someone is intending to steal, the operator will know. That user will be blocked immediately.
