The year 2024 is going to be very busy for Bajaj. First they launched the 400 cc Pulsar and then the world's first CNG motorcycle. Now the company has started preparing to update India's third best selling scooter Chetak. Bajaj recently launched the Chetak Limited Edition 3201 and the cheapest variant of the Chetak 2901.
According to media reports, the brand will update the entire Chetak scooter portfolio by purchasing new battery cells from a different supplier. Notably, the Chetak 3201 Edition has the same battery pack of 3.2 kWh capacity as the current premium model, but it is claimed to offer a range of 136 km on a full charge. Whereas, the premium model gets a range of 126 km from the same battery.
This increased range is said to be possible due to the new battery cells. These cells offer greater efficiency and energy density. This has made it possible to boost the range without increasing the battery capacity. However, it is not yet known when the updated Bajaj Chetak will be launched with new battery cells.
The new version of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter with the new battery pack is expected to increase in price by Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000. Let me tell you, now the most expensive Chetak i.e. Chetak Premium variant is priced at Rs 1.47 lakh (ex-showroom). Its main competitor in this price range is the TVS iQube.
