Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) last month unveiled the two-wheeler sales figures. Statistics say that Honda sold a total of 3,29,393 units of motorcycles and scooters in May this year. Compared to the same period in 2022, sales are down 6.6 percent.
The company sold 3,11,144 models in India last month. And 18,249 units were exported. Compared to last April (3,74,757 units), the sales in May were seen to be down.

It appears that they have sold around 1.90 lakh units less than the country’s largest two-wheeler brand Hero MotoCorp last month. Honda launched its cheapest commuter motorcycle Shine 100 in March. Delivery started from May. Last month, Honda launched the bike in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar with a price cut of Rs 2,000. At the same time, they have brought a warranty offer of up to 10 years. The price in those three states is Rs 62,900 (ex-showroom). Engines that comply with the new emission regulations OBD2 are offered with ESP or Enhanced Smart Power.
The Honda Shine 100 is offered in five color options – Black with Red Stripe, Black with Blue Stripe, Black with Green Stripe, Black with Gold Stripe and Black with Gray Stripe. The bike has competitors in the market – Hero Splendor Plus and Bajaj Platina 100.
Meanwhile, Honda last month launched a new range of engine oils – ‘Pro Honda’ – for use in two-wheelers. Apart from this, they are running road safety and awareness campaigns in Hyderabad, Lucknow, Bidisha, Ferozepur and New Delhi. Besides, Honda India Foundation is providing employment training to economically disadvantaged youth under the ‘Project Pragati’ program in Kanpur.
