Greaves Electric Mobility (Greaves Electric Mobility)’s electric scooter manufacturing arm Ampere Electric (Ampere Electric) announced a price hike on all their models. The price has been increased up to a maximum of Tk 39,100. This decision has the effect of reducing the amount of central subsidy under the FAME-II scheme from June 1, 2023. After subsidy cut in FEM-II scheme Ampere Zeal EXIts price has increased by Tk 20,900 and now it is Tk 95,900. Whereas the Magnus EX is priced at Rs 21,000 and will currently be sold at Rs 1.05 lakh. Again, the price of the top-spec Ampere Primus has increased by Rs 39,100 to its current market price of Rs 1.49 lakh. All prices above are as per ex-showroom price.
Ampere Electric has established itself as the fifth largest company in the electric two-wheeler market in India. The first four largest companies are – Hello, TVS, Ather And Bajaj Auto. Ampere sold a total of 9,632 units of the model last month. As a result, they have seen 12 percent progress in sales compared to April. Now let’s see if there is any impact on sales after the price hike.
Incidentally, the Center has accused Greaves Electric of violating the Phased Manufacturing Program or PMP rules under the Fem-II project. The Ministry of Heavy Industries has demanded a penalty of Tk 124 crore from the company. After receiving the compensation letter from the government, Greaves Electric Mobility released a statement saying that they will look into the complaint and take action accordingly.
