Sony A7S III Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera Launched in India: Price, Specifications


Sony A7S III Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera finally makes its way to India after debuting in the US back in July. It is the successor of the Sony A7S II that was also a very popular full-frame mirrorless camera. The new camera features a flip-out touchscreen LCD display and supports 4k recording at 120 FPS. The camera comes with two memory card slots, supporting SD and CFexpress Type A cards.

The Sony A7S III features a 12.1-megapixel back-illuminated full-frame Exmor R CMOS image sensor and is powered by the new Bionz XR image processor. The new Camera’s ISO range has also been improved a little bit, now going from 40 to 409,600 instead of the 50 to 409,600 range on the previous A7S II. As mentioned earlier, the camera is capable of recording 4K video at 120fps with 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth. It can also bring 4K 60p 16-bit RAW video with HDMI output capability, it is the first time in the Alpha series as stated by the company.


This full-frame mirrorless camera can take still images at up to 10fps and capable of taking more than 1,000 consecutive uncompressed RAW images. The Sony Alpha 7S III features a Fast Hybrid auto-focus (AF) mode that combines phase-detection and contrast-detection allowing the camera to track subjects faster over a wide area. The camera comes with 759 point phase-detection AF sensors that cover 92 percent of the image sensor. The new camera also features 5-axis optical in-body image stabilization with an additional Active Mode for more advanced handheld movie shooting.


Sony claims that this camera’s 9.44 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder is the brightest and largest in the world. The menu system on the full-frame camera has been redesigned to work with the touchscreen so the user can interpret the menu easily. For Connectivity, the Sony a7S Mark III includes USB tethering, dual-band Wi-Fi, and a USB Type-C connector that supports SuperSpeed USB 5GBps data transfer.


Sony A7S III price


The Sony A7S III is priced at Rs. 3,34,990 for the body only and it will go on sale from October 14 across major online and offline stores. Sony’s CFexpres Type A memory card of 80GB is priced Rs. 21,100 and 160GB for Rs. 40,990 and Sony’s MRW-G2 card reader will cost Rs. 13,700.
