Google Meet noise cancellation feature rollout for Android and iOS smartphones. Using this feature background noise from your device will automatically filter out from the audio input and still letting your voice clear and audible.

Google has already introduced the noise cancellation feature for the desktop version of Google Meet back in June and is now expanding it. However, this feature will only be available for G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education customers on Android and iOS for now.

Google said in a blog post that the noise cancellation feature will be available in all countries and for all android and iOS users having the support of Google Meet in their devices. Google Meet Noise Cancellation feature is capable of filtering out background distractions such as dogs barking, pen-clicking, typing, closing a door, or sounds from a nearby construction site.

Google Meet Noise cancellation feature is off by default and has to be manually turned on before or during a video call. To turn on this feature on Android and iOS, click on More, select Settings, and tap on Noise cancellation, and now enjoy the feature. But keep in mind that when the feature is turned on, it filters out noises that don’t sound like voices like dogs bark, construction, etc. Hence, voices from the TV or people talking at the same time will not be filtered out.

Google noted that audio capture from screen sharing won’t be affected by the noise cancellation feature however if you are playing music in the background and want it to share on Google Meet then you have to turn off the Noise Cancellation feature.

Google Meet has introduced various new features to the app due to the increase in the demand for video conferencing due to this pandemic. Google also said that the noise cancellation feature will not be available to G Suite Basic, G Suite Business, G Suite for Education, and G Suite for Nonprofits customers.
