Ever since the facelift version was launched last May, it was rumored that the new generation CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Swift could be launched very soon. The launch date of Swift CNG has come true, making the speculations come true. Although the company has not said anything officially, an all-India media report claims that the CNG model of the Swift will be launched next week.
Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG will be launched in India on September 12. It will come in multiple variants. Mechanically, the Z-series will be powered by a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine with a 60-litre CNG tank inside the boot. In this configuration, the Swift CNG is expected to be capable of producing 70 bhp and 100 Nm of torque.

Talking about fuel efficiency, Maruti Swift's new Z series engine claims a mileage of 24.8 kmpl. There the CNG version can get a mileage of around 30 km per kg of gas. Incidentally, the CNG variant of the previous generation model had a fuel efficiency of 30.9 km/kg.

Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG is likely to be priced Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 more than the standard model. After launch, it will compete with Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago CNG in the Indian market.
