Bajaj Auto has been able to consolidate its ground in India's electric scooter market in the last few months. Their Chetak model is currently the third best selling e-scooter in the country. The company is said to be adding a new model to the Chetak lineup, which is called the Chetak 2903. It is coming to rival the Ola S1 series, and the TVS iQube e-scooter.
The upcoming Chetak 2903 will be positioned above Bajaj's cheapest electric scooter Chetak 2901. Currently the price gap between this entry level model and the Urbane variant is Rs 22,000, so the new Chetak 2903 will help to bridge this gap. The new model will offer more feature-rich options to buyers.
Like the other variants of the Chetak, the 2903 version will retain the same look and feel. However, Bajaj may add new color options to differentiate it from other models. The price is likely to be kept between Rs 1.10-1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected to be launched in September or October.
Talking about performance, the Bajaj Chetak 2903 will get the same 2.9kWh battery as the previous 2901 model, which will offer a range of 123 km on a full charge. In real world the range will be between 90-100 km. For power, the electric scooter will be provided with a 4kW motor. The biggest upgrade might be the fast charging feature, which is missing from the current 2901 variant.
