BSNL 5G Trail: BSNL's 5G network trial is starting, know in which cities

After Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea mobile tariff hikes, BSNL has become more active in taking on these private telecom operators. And so BSNL has now started working to improve their services across the country. According to reports, so far BSNL has deployed 15,000 new 4G towers across the country.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that BSNL will install 80,000 towers by the end of October and will complete the installation of 21,000 more towers by March next year. So, BSNL will deploy 1 lakh towers of 4G network by March 2025. Besides, he also said that BSNL will upgrade these 4G towers to 5G towers in future.

It may be noted that India's telecom startups and companies have started discussions with state-run telecom company BSNL to directly conduct 5G trials. And it is expected that these trials can be started within the next 1 to 3 months. Note that for this trial the focus will be on the private network (CNPN).

Meanwhile, once BSNL succeeds in this task, they will become a concern for Jio and Airtel. Because currently Jio and Airtel are the only 5G service providers in India. And if BSNL enters the 5G market there, private telcos will have to face huge losses.

Which cities will have BSNL 5G?

This project will initially focus on BSNL's 700 MHz band. Notably, the service may be launched in various government offices and campuses in Bangalore, Sanchar Bhavan and JNU campuses in capital Delhi, IITs Delhi and Hyderabad, several areas in Gurgaon and India Resident Center in Chennai.

Live BSNL 5G Trial

According to the General Director of Voice of Indian Communication Technology Enterprises (VolCE), currently BSNL is ready to provide various types of infrastructure including spectrum, towers, batteries/power supply. And so they currently want to do a live 5G trial for general public use.

In this context, Voice of Indian Communication Technology Enterprises (VolCE) is an organization that involves several Indian telecom companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Tejas Networks, VNL, United Telecoms, Coral Telecom and HFCL.

Which companies are associated with this project?

A number of Indian companies have offered to conduct these trials, including Galore Networks, Wellmany, W4S Labs, Suktha Consulting, Coral Telecom, Amantya Technologies, VVDN, Bharat RAN Consortium, Signaltron and Resonon.

These companies will work in areas such as 5G or 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), network slicing test, Private Automatic Branch Exchange (PABX) and voice, video and data services based on simple communication on mobile phones.
