3 lakh taka cheaper cars, government is happy to announce tax waiver in this state

The Uttar Pradesh government has good news for those who are going to buy a hybrid car. The state administration has announced complete waiver of registration fee for strong hybrid vehicles. Companies like Maruti Suzuki, Honda, and Toyota will benefit from this initiative by the company. Customers can save up to Rs 3.10 lakh on the strong hybrid (not the mild version) car.

Due to this decision by Uttar Pradesh government, prices of various hybrid cars including Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Invicto, Toyota Highrider, Innova Hicross, and Honda City have become cheaper. A government directive published on July 5 has given a 100 percent discount on registration fees for strong hybrid vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

Note that it is not known whether this discount is also applicable in the case of Toyota Vellfire or Lexus range of luxury hybrid cars. It should be noted that earlier in Uttar Pradesh 8 percent road tax was to be paid on cars priced below 10 lakhs and 10 percent road tax on four wheelers priced above 10 lakhs.

Between September and November last year, 24,026 strong hybrid vehicles were sold in India. At the same time, the sales figure of electric vehicles was 21,445 units. As a result, hybrid vehicles have overtaken electric cars in terms of sales. If more states waive the tax, the demand for such vehicles is expected to increase.
