The price of petrol-diesel has reached where it is, speeding up the vehicle users every now and then. The price per liter has crossed 100 in most states of the country. In this situation, the Maharashtra government gave a message of relief to the car and two-wheeler owners. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced the reduction of petrol by 65 paise per liter and diesel by 2 rupees while announcing the state budget today i.e. 28 June.
Petrol-Diesel became cheaper in Mumbai
Ajit Pawar said, “Diesel tax in Mumbai has been reduced from 24% to 21%. As a result, some diesels from Lider have become cheaper by Rs.2. In Mumbai, some prices have come down by 65 paise as petrol tax has been reduced from 26% to 25%.”
Currently, this new petrol-diesel price will be effective in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane regions of Maharashtra. Apart from reducing the price of fuel, the Maharashtra government has announced to waive electricity bills of 44 lakh farmers. This is not the end, the poor family is promised three LPG cylinders in some years.
Incidentally, petrol-diesel prices have increased in some states since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Due to the increase in the amount of tax levied on fuel oil, this price increase has angered the buyers. Meanwhile, the price of petrol diesel in India depends on the fluctuation of crude oil prices in the international market. As the price of crude oil increases, the cost of fossil fuels increases.
