Sony Xperia: Sony's new smartphone will shake the market, with 50+48+50MP cameras

Sony has already confirmed that the Sony Xperia 1 VI smartphone will be launched on May 15. Speculations have been going on in tech circles for several weeks about this handset. And now, just a few days before the official launch, some promotional images of the Sony Xperia 1 VI phone have leaked online, revealing a number of key specifications along with some information about its camera, let's take a look at them.

Sony Xperia 1 VI phone will have LYTIA sensor in all three cameras

Promotional images of the Sony Xperia 1 VI phone shared by HT Felix reveal details of all its camera sensors. Notably, the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI are expected to offer the same camera sensor, but the sensors used in both the phones will be different.

The Xperia 1 VI phone will include a 48-megapixel Sony LYT800 1/1.4-inch sensor with a 24mm focal length as the primary camera. And the main camera will include a 50-megapixel Sony LYT600 ultra-wide lens with 16mm focal length and 1/2-inch sensor size, and a 50-megapixel LYT500 1/2.9-inch telephoto sensor with 85-160mm focal length. Notably, the 50-megapixel ultra-wide and telephoto cameras will be a significant upgrade from the predecessor's 12-megapixel sensor.

In comparison, the main and ultrawide cameras of the Sony Xperia 10 VI phone will include Sony LYT600 and Sony LYT500 sensors respectively. Also, the Zeiss T* coating may be exclusive to the Xperia 1 VI. Earlier leaked promotional images revealed that the Sony Xperia 1 VI model will feature an “Exmore T for Mobile” image sensor, which may be based on the Sony LYT800 sensor.

Also, the Sony Xperia 1 VI phone is expected to feature OLED with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, which will be a significant change from the narrow 21:9 ratio display of the last generation Xperia 1 V phone. The display is said to be 1.5x brighter than its predecessor. Leaked promotional images hint at an improved heat dissipation system, which will help when using the camera in open environments. Keep in mind, however, that these details have surfaced via unofficial sources, so we'll have to wait until the launch event to know for sure if they'll be on the final model of the Sony Xperia 1 VI.
