There is nothing new to say about the popularity of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India in the country’s two-wheeler market. Currently the country’s second largest two-wheeler manufacturer in terms of sales, Honda has carved a special place in the hearts of Indians over the years due to its reliability. This time they announced the unprecedented sale of 6 crore bikes and scooters in India. Huge demand helped the company to touch this milestone in February 2024.
Honda two-wheeler sales in India reach 6 crores
Honda sold 2,47,195 bikes and scooters in India in January 2024, but it increased to 4,58,711 units last month. Note that Honda entered India in 1999. Production of the Activa scooter as the first model started in 2001 at the Manesar factory. Needless to say, the popularity of which has made Honda stand on such a solid foundation today. Even today Honda Activa is the best selling scooty in the country.
Since 2002 Honda started exporting two wheelers made in India abroad. Another legendary motorcycle Honda Unicorn was launched in 2004. At that time it was a 150 cc model. Later Shine 125 came in the 125 cc segment. This bike has left a mark on the minds of the buyers since its launch. Last year again the company launched the Shine 100 at a cheaper price.
In 2012, the Japanese company managed to create one million customer households. In 2015 and 2017 the sales reached 2 crore and 4 crore respectively. Honda had announced to hand over the keys to 5 crore customers by 2021. And in March 2024, it achieved sales success of 6 crores.
Incidentally, Honda sells two-wheelers in India from three different outlets. Namely – Red Wing, BigWing and BigWing Topline. The latter offers delivery and service to buyers of a full range of premium motorcycles from 300-1800 cc. 300-500 cc models available at BigWing. Models available here are – New CB350, H’ness CB350, CB350RS, CB300F, CB300R, NX500, XL750 Transalp, Africa Twin and Gold Wing Tour. The rest of the two-wheelers are sold by Honda from Red Wing.
