India’s first underwater metro rail service is set to launch soon, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. And right after the launch of this metro rail service, Vodafone Idea announced that they have completed the installation of a new network to serve passengers on Kolkata’s underwater metro rail. Through which Vi users will be able to use Vodafone Idea connection seamlessly across the 16.6 km route of the Green Line Metro.
The company informed that it has set up network infrastructure at 17 stations on the Green Line route to provide seamless network connectivity to passengers traveling from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade.
Vi said that although the installation of network infrastructure across all underground stations has been completed, now 6 out of 11 elevated stations viz., Salt Lake, Sector 5, Karunamayi, Central Park, City Centre, Bengal Chemical and Salt Lake Stadium are accessible to the public, and Common people will be able to use the network connection in the remaining 5 stations very soon.
It is learned that Vodafone Idea has deployed IBS (In Building Solutions) to deliver network connectivity to the tunnels located 13 meters below the surface of the Hooghly River and 33 meters below the surface.
