TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) released the report for the month of December 2023. Jio naturally continued its wireless subscriber growth streak in this report. And following Jio is Airtel. Meanwhile, like other times Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Vodafone Idea lost several of their customers. The picture is almost the same for the wireline segment as well.
TRAI said in its report, 0.24 million (2.4 lakh) wireline subscribers were added to Jio in December 2023. And Airtel managed to add 0.08 million (80 thousand) users. While Vodafone Idea and BSNL’s subscribers fell by 0.09 million (90 thousand) and 0.03 million (30 thousand) respectively.
In other words, Jio has the highest market share in both wireless and wireline segments, followed by Airtel. Although once the wireline division was occupied by BSNL. However, now they are in third place. Incidentally, BSNL is looking to switch its customers from copper connection to fiber connection, which will definitely help improve the broadband experience of the customers.
Let it be known that Jio’s total wireline subscribers were 11.04 million at the end of December 2023. Whereas Airtel had 8.31 million users. And total users of BSNL and MTNL reached 6.14 million and 2.21 million respectively.
