There is nothing new to say about passenger cars. But there is a missing link in the truck and passenger vehicle market – the pickup truck. Apart from seating passengers, it can also transport goods. Several other companies including Toyota and Isuzu India sell such models in the Indian market. This time, it is heard that Mahindra (Mahindra) is going to step in that direction. The company has recently filed a trademark for Scorpio X in India. Which has added a new dimension to the speculation of the Scorpio pick-up version coming to this country.
Mahindra’s upcoming car could be the production ready version of their Global Pik Up concept. It was unveiled by the company on the occasion of India’s Independence Day last year. It is based on the Scorpio N SUV. The pickup truck is expected to hit Indian roads in 2025.
The Global Pik Up Concept will be called the Scorpio X
The Global Pik Up concept model debuted in South Africa last year. It shows various design elements of the Scorpio N. Again its taillight is taken from the first generation Scorpio. Various reports have claimed that the production version of the car will come under the name Scorpio X in the country.
The Mahindra Scorpio X is likely to be powered by the new generation mHawk diesel engine. It can be offered in both six-speed manual and automatic transmission options. There may even be a four-wheel drive system. The 2.2 liter diesel engine will produce 172 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque.
The list of notable features will include six airbags, sunroof, semi-automatic parking, second-stage Advanced Driver Assistance System or ADAS, 5G connectivity, Harman audio system and various drive modes. The price of Mahindra Scorpio X in the country is expected to be between Tk 12 lakh to Tk 22 lakh (ex-showroom). The Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross will compete in the market.
