In 2019, MG Motor India made its way into the Indian car market with the launch of the Hector SUV. Apart from petrol-diesel cars, they currently sell a pair of electric models in India. These are – MG ZS EV and MG Comet EV. The British-born company has now confirmed the arrival of its third electric vehicle in India.
MG Motor brings new electric car to India
Currently MG Motor India’s ZS EV and Comet EV models are quite popular in the market. Seeing that, the company is going to bring the third EV model in this country. Speculations are rife that the car could be launched during the festive season this year. MG Motor India MD Rajiv Chhaba confirmed the launch of the new electric car.
Incidentally, currently 25 percent of MG Motor’s total vehicle sales in India come from electric vehicles. As a result, the company believes that the upcoming model will help to increase MG’s presence in the field of electric vehicles. MG plans to ramp up production at its Halol plant in Gujarat. Last year the annual production capacity was increased from 60 thousand to 80 thousand. This time it can be 90 thousand units.
Bharat MG has set a target of doubling the number of cars it currently has by 2025. Which will be a significant step in expanding the company’s business in the country’s market. However, MG hasn’t spent a word on what the new EV model arriving this year will look like. Let it be known that last year at the Auto Expo, the company showcased several electric vehicles. These include – MG4 e-Hatchback, Mifa 9 e-MPV and MG5. Some experts claim that the new model could be one of them.
It is also heard that MG Motor may launch the Boujun Yep e-SUV model sold in the international market in the country. Like the Comet EV, it will come with a boxy, muscular design and compact dimensions. The price will be kept within the reach of our people.
