Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has been witnessing rising demand in the 150cc and above motorcycle segment in India. The new model is going to be brought in August. Next Wednesday, August 2 is scheduled as the launch date. However, it has not been stated which motorcycle is being brought specifically. This time Honda also released a teaser of the upcoming bike.
Honda released teaser of SP 160
The Japanese company is rumored to bring an all-new model based on the Unicorn 160. It could be SP 160. Therefore, the possibility of launching this bike on August 2 is high. Which is basically the 160 cc version of the SP 125. So a number of similarities will be noticed between the two models. The 15-second teaser video released shows a very small glimpse of the Honda SP 160. Honda name written between two halogen turn indicators. Features angular taillamp signature parts and possibly a single-piece tubular grab rail.
The Honda SP 160 teaser video is said to have seen a side mounted exhaust system and pillion rest guard. Its seat may be a single piece unit. Again the video shows angular taillamps with H-pattern, handle bar clamps and fuel tank parts.
The Honda SP 160 is expected to feature an all-digital instrument console and wider handlebars. With a slightly sporty design, the motorcycle will come as an ideal model for daily commuting. It will compete with Bajaj Pulsar 150, Yamaha FZ and Suzuki Gixxer 155. The price is likely to be Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom).
The SP 160 will be based on the architecture of the Unicorn 160 but will follow the design of the SP 125. There is a 162.7 cc, single cylinder, air cooled engine to bring speed to the wheels. It produces 12.9 bhp of power at 7,500 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. A 5-speed gearbox is available to support the motor. Honda’s new bike has a 12-liter fuel tank, 17-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels.
