Maruti Suzuki: Keeping drivers and pedestrians safe, new safety features added to Maruti cars

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has been very popular in the market since its launch. Maruti’s first hybrid car now comes with new safety features. Its code name – Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System or AVAS (AVAS). It has been added to the Strong Hybrid variant of the Grand Vitara. The company claims that this is an addition considering the convenience of pedestrians.

The price of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid variant has increased by Rs 4,000 due to the addition of new safety features. However, the company said that the price of the mid-hybrid variant has remained unchanged. The price of the hybrid version of the car now starts from Rs. 18.29 lakh and goes up to Rs. 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Let’s know about Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara AVS feature in detail.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara : AVAS function

When any hybrid car runs on pure electricity, no noise is emitted from the motor. As a result, it is almost impossible for pedestrians to understand that cars are coming. AVAS added the feature to eliminate this problem. which will produce very low frequency noise. It will be audible from just five feet away from the car. As a result, pedestrians can move away from the vehicle at a safe distance. According to the company, this feature is provided as per the automotive industry standard.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Specifications and Features

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is available with 1.5 liter mild hybrid engine and 1.5 liter strong hybrid engine. The former produces 103 PS of power and 137 Nm of torque. The car can run 21.11 km on one liter of oil. And the strong hybrid engine with 114 bhp output gives a mileage of 27.97 kmpl.

The car is available in manual and automatic gearbox options However, all-wheel drive is only available on the manual version. Apart from AVAS, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara’s color hybrid version also gets safety features list – 6 airbags, ESP, a 360-degree camera, tire pressure monitoring system, hill descent control and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.
