In April, MG Motor or Morris Garages made a blockbuster entry of Comet EV, India’s cheapest electric car. Since its launch, it has been at the center of discussion in the country. The company sold 1,184 units of the car last month. As a result, it is currently the company’s second best-selling electric vehicle. Bookings are being made from all dealerships and official website of the company for Rs 11,000. The current market price of MG Comet EV is Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom). MG Comet EV Buy-back Programme
The car is sold by MG under a buy-back program in India. In other words, buyers can return the car after using it for 3 years. 60 percent of the ex-showroom price will be given instead. According to experts, this buy-back program is why the car is selling so fast.
MG Comet EV: Features and Specifications
The MG Comet EV comes with a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery with an IP67 rating. MG claims that it can run 230 km (tested range) on a single charge. A Type 2 charger will take 7 hours to charge Comet EV’s battery from 10-80%. But with a 3.3 KW charger, the battery will be fully charged in 5 hours.
The company is offering a warranty of eight years or 120,000 km (whichever is earlier) on the battery. Buyers can purchase the car with an extended warranty and service package, which will cost an additional Rs 5,000. The interior has a dual 10.26-inch floating display. One of which is the infotainment unit and the other is the digital instrument console. The infotainment system supports voice commands.
Also, the car can be optioned with 55 connected features. Buyers will get the benefits of wireless Android Auto, three USB ports with Apple Car Play connectivity, manual AC control, keyless entry, reverse camera sensor, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and tire pressure monitoring system.
