At a time of rising environmental pollution, the Indian government has set a target of selling only electric cars in the country by 2030. In support of which, various automobile companies doing business in this country are increasing their portfolio of battery-powered vehicles. Tata Motors continues to lead the country’s electric vehicle market with three models – Nexon EV (Max and Prime), Tigor EV and Tiago EV. However, Tata is not complacent in its own success. In the future, they are keen to increase their sales from the electric vehicle segment.
Tata Motors will launch 10 EVs in the next 5 years
Tata sold a total of 5,805 units of electric vehicles last month. Which is the combined amount of their exports and sales in this country’s market. In the same period of 2022, the company’s sales volume was 3,505 units. Tata Motors has set a target of electrifying 25 percent of its total vehicle sales by 2027. And it is planned to take it to 30 percent by 2023.
Recently, Tata announced the milestone of reaching 50,000 sales of its electric vehicle model in the country. EV models accounted for 12 percent of their total vehicles sold from January to March. Tata has been active to increase the sales in this financial year. That is why they have increased importance in expanding EV sales and after sales network and charging infrastructure.
Tata has announced plans to launch 10 new electric vehicles over the next 4-5 years. Out of which seven models are – Tata Punch EV, Tata Altroz EV, Tata Curvv EV, Tata Avinya EV, Tata Sierra EV, Tata Safari EV and Tata Harrier EV. The electric model of Punch is likely to be launched in the market in the second half of 2023. A concept model of the Harrier EV was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. It will be based on the company’s Gen-2 platform.
