AMD Ryzen 5000 Series CPUs Launched and will be available from November 5


AMD Ryzen 5000 Series desktop CPUs launched as the next generation CPUs based on the updated ‘Zen 3’ architecture. The new processors are stated to offer up to a 26 percent performance increase in gaming and a 19 percent improvement in instructions per cycle compared to the current Ryzen 3000XT series.


The chipset maker has finally announced a total of four new CPU models: the Ryzen 5 5600X, Ryzen 7 5800X, Ryzen 9 5900X, and Ryzen 9 5950X. All of the CPU offers better single-core as well as multi-core performance.

The most expensive one, Ryzen 9 5950X features 16 cores and 32 threads with base and boost speeds of 3.4GHz and 4.9GHz respectively, and 72MB of total cache memory. It will be available at $799 (around Rs. 58,760).

The company claims that it is the highest single-threaded performance of any “desktop gaming processor”. Furthermore, It has more cores for better multi-core performance across mainstream (non-workstation) desktop CPUs.

Ryzen 9 5900X comes with The 12-core and 24-thread that runs at speeds between 3.7GHz and 4.8GHz. Moreover, It has 70MB of cache memory. The chipset will be available at a price tag of $549 (around Rs. 40,370).

Moving up to Ryzen 7 5800X, It has an 8-core and 16-thread model with 36MB of cache memory. The base and boost speeds of the chipset are 3.8GHz and 4.7GHz respectively, and 36MB of cache memory. Ryzen 7 5800X is priced at $449 (around Rs. 33,020)

The Ryzen 5 5600X has 6-core and 12-thread architecture which runs on 3.7GHz and 4.6GHz base and boost speeds respectively, and features 35MB of cache memory. $299 (around Rs. 21,990).


The Ryzen 5 5600X has a 65W rating and will come with AMD’s Wraith Stealth cooler in the box whereas the three Ryzen 9 and Ryzen 7 models have 105W TDPs and will not come with a stock cooler.

AMD also said that Zen 3 architecture comes with a new unified 8-core CCX (core complex) design, reduced latency with direct L3 cache access, improved branch prediction, wider integer, and floating-point engines, and twice the amount of L3 cache per core.


According to AMD CTO, Mark Papermaster said that the Zen 3 architecture delivers “absolute leadership” for desktop CPUs. The company also revealed that Zen 4 is in active development and will use a 5nm process.


The Ryzen 5000 Series desktop CPUs are drop-in compatible with current-generation 500-series motherboards following a BIOS update. The company claims it can provide 2.8x better power efficiency as compared to Intel Core i9-10900K.



AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su also teased a preview of the performance of a Radeon RX 6000 ‘Big Navi’ series GPU, which is scheduled to be launched on October 28. The GPU is confirmed to be running with a Ryzen 5900X CPU, through which gamers can play 61fps in Borderlands 3 at 4K.

The Ryzen 5 5600X, Ryzen 7 5800X, Ryzen 9 5900X, and Ryzen 9 5950X. CPUs will be available globally from November 5. Interested buyers purchase Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9 model from either the new Ryzen 5000 series or the previous-gen Ryzen 9 3950X, Ryzen 9 3900XT, or Ryzen 7 3800XT between October 20 and December 31, 2020, will receive a free digital copy of Far Cry 6 – Standard Edition.
